Decorate a Plain White Frosted Cake for Christmas

You can really pretty up a plain white frosted cake and make a wonderful Christmas display. It’s almost too pretty to eat and it’s very easy and fun to make. You can get very creative and crafty with your cake with just a few ingredients. For this cake I used:

– Sugar Ice Cream Cones – the V-shaped ones

– 1 Pkg Green Soft Jelly Sugar Candies

– 1 Container Plain White Frosting

– Green Food Coloring

– Powdered Sugar

In order to make the pine trees, add green food coloring to your white frosting until you achieve the shade you want. Invert an ice cream cone and hold it with your index finger placed inside of it and with your other hand, frost it with the green frosting using a butter knife, leaving the tip undone. When you’re done frosting most of the cone, grip it by the un-frosted tip and place it upside-down onto your cake. Make sure you don’t go too close to the edge. If the frosting on the cake is already dried you can spread a little fresh frosting in the spot where you’re going to place the cone so that it will hold it firmly once it dries. Once your cone is placed on the cake, carefully finish frosting the tip and while the frosting is still soft, sprinkle the cone with powdered sugar to create a snowy look. Repeat with process with more cones but make sure you don’t overcrowd your cake.

When you’re done with your cones in the center, place the green sugar candies around them to create the look of snowy bushes.  In the center, I put two little Christmas carolers, I cut out the bottom of a plastic cup and secured them on top of it with soft frosting and placed that on the cake, because the carolers would tip over if placed directly on the cake without the plastic piece. You don’t have to necessarily use carolers, you can place whatever you want in the center, whatever your creativity desires. You can also make little snowmen out of marshmallows to put in the center.

Decorating this cake is a fun creative process and you end up with a very beautiful result. The only problem is that you don’t want to cut into it. 🙂
